Softness

Softness

đź©· She thought she was just being bratty.
He thought he was just being playful.

But now there’s a mirror where his focus used to be.
A ribbon where his name was.
And something warm curling inside him…
telling him to sit still and look pretty.

By the time the lace started growing,
the box had already opened.
And she’d already forgotten she’d cast anything at all.

He just wanted to rest his legs.
Maybe close his eyes.
Just for a second.

Now he's posing.
And the box fits perfectly.

Come see what happens when you laugh too soon at magic.

She only meant to be silly.
A little flare of mock drama,
a fingertip pointed like it meant something—
and a huff as she turned on her heel and vanished down the hall.

He laughed.
That kind of warm, distracted laugh you give when something feels familiar.
But he kept staring at the spot she’d stood,
like something was still echoing there.

A shimmer maybe.
Or just the idea of one.

He sat down, without really meaning to.
His breath slowed.
His thoughts folded in on themselves, like silk napkins after a feast.
His fingers looked gentler somehow.
He forgot what he was supposed to be annoyed about.

There was no pain.
Just… softness.

By the time he blinked again,
the world felt dipped in cream light.
Everything quieter.
His shirt no longer fit quite right.
The mirror caught a blush he didn’t remember putting on.
It suited him.

He didn’t notice the box right away.
But it was cozy.
And it was open.
And it was waiting.

So he stepped in.
And curled.
And smiled.
